“Effective Communication Strategies For Communication With People With Aphasia For the IT Professional”
Aphasia is a disorder of language following stroke, brain injury/concussion, or other neurological change. There are currently over a million people living in the US who have aphasia, with nearly 180,000 new cases ever year. Many people with aphasia can live independent lives, including rich virtual lives, as such IT professionals need to know how to communicate with this special population.
Those who attend the session will understand what aphasia is, but also, what aphasia isn’t. The end goal is for people to better understand the communication needs, supports, and limitations of people who are affected by aphasia.
